DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May. 17, 2013--
Rent-A-Center, Inc. (NASDAQ/NGS: RCII), today donated Target gift cards
valued at $5000 to the Youth Automotive Training Center. The donation is
tied to a philanthropic initiative dubbed “Random Acts of Caring,”
launched by Rent-A-Center in 2008.
Established by Jim Moran in 1984, the mission of the Youth Automotive
Training Center is to train and educated at-risk youth in basic
automotive repair skills, academic remediation, job readiness and
life-management skills. The goal of this program is to prepare young
adults who are at a disadvantage in their lives to become
self-sufficient, productive, law-abiding citizens.
“Thanks to the generosity of Rent-A-Center, YATC can use the gift cards
for a variety of essential needs for our students and their families.
The cards will help our kids with such items as clothing, food, baby
needs and so much more,” said Terry Routley, executive director at YATC.
“We selected the Youth Automotive Training Center in recognition of the
organization’s important work in meeting the needs and improving the
lives of at-risk youth,” said Xavier Dominicis, vice president of public
affairs at Rent-A-Center. “Today’s Random Act of Caring marks the 90th
act undertaken since Rent-A-Center launched this initiative to support
the communities it serves.”
